These are the records which Elder got his mitts on yesterday. Let me explain! The same jumble sale which I got my Radley bag from for 50p is on every few weeks, and I got my wardrobes and new sofas from there too. They have a guy with a van who very kindly delivers things like my furniture, and who also collects the bits people want to give to the jumble sale. Elder happened to say, jokingly, that if he came across any records, that Elder would gladly buy them from him and give the money to the church. To which van man said he got offered them all the time but no one wants them, and that he'd pop round when he got some again.
Yesterday he came round, with all those, and Elder as you can imagine has been joyously going through them all, one by one. They won't stay in the boxes for long, the rest (over 3000) are against a wall taking up a quarter of my living room floor, until Elder makes some shelves to go along one wall for them all.
Yes my 50p Radley Hobo bag! What can I say, old ladies in Salvation Army halls know nothing of labels! She wanted me to pay her 25p before that.
I now have news from Elder of what is there:
We have a collection of reggae and dub (think Lee Scratch Perry from 1969, King Tubby, Trojan Sound System and Gill Scott Heron) in a few boxes, Then we also have house music from the 80s onwards, up to Tori Amos (tune, being stolen by me), and the likes of The Rapture, Hot Chip and Daft Punk (again being stolen by me). Alot of it is white label, and coloured vinyl, and may actually be sold, if its stuff Elder isn't a fan of. But I bet a good 98% will not leave the house!
Love it! I've missed my vinyl so much but it's coming on Wednesday - it's been shipped across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal, to LA and is now on it's way overland to Phoenix...with my record players too (and lots of other stuff and furniture). Squee! There's nothing like the hiss of vinyl!
Ooh I love stuff like that. Appeals to the inner nerd. And the outer one too.

That's so cool! It's nice to see good old fashioned records again even though my girl would have no clue what they are ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe fact you have these and I don't and we are the same age makes you WAY cooler than me!
